Palermo Italian Youth Capital 2017




Palermo Italian Youth Capital 2017 is an ambitious target that aims to reach the city of Palermo.

Palermo is among the three finalists, along with Bari and Venice. The announcement is expected in the next few weeks. The winning city will be announced during a public ceremony organized by the Organizing Committee.

"Italian Youth Capital" is the prestigious title that is awarded annually to an Italian city that has the opportunity to showcase his life and actions taken with regard to the new generations.





The prime objective is the promotion and the implementation of ideas and innovative projects to boost young people's increasing role as protagonists in the active participation of its territory.

Applications will be screened by a 9-member jury of experts selected from among senior policymakers, labor, media and civil society: 4 on behalf of the organizing committee, the first winner of the previous year and 4 civil society.

The issues considered by the jury mainly to the innovative force of the proposals in the area of ​​youth policy, the media exposure, the benefits for the proponent town and the chance to make the proposals a national and international reference.

"The challenge of Palermo, the nerve center of welcome and respect for cultural diversity, which aims to become an inclusive city - said the Mayor Leoluca Orlando - is to adopt an effective model of youth policies, emphasizing the importance that the city gives to creativity and planning of its young people, the will to create the conditions for the area to regenerate starting from the need to rethink the job opportunities dedicated to all those who would like to work actively for the growth of their city".
